Who We Are

Moleta Shears is an extension of Moleta: Artisanal Sharpening. Hair shears and straight razors are totally different methods and training than knives, scissors, or garden tools and this site was built to reflect that. Moleta was founded in 2018 by Alena Joling to make high quality sharpening easier to access for everyone. Finding a good sharpener is hard and knowing who to trust is harder. Moleta is now a small collective of like-minded sharpeners. There is no official certification for professional sharpeners, but at Moleta each sharpener trains for at least a year before they can sharpen for customers or are established professional sharpeners who use our support system to be easier to reach. Due to shortage in hair shear sharpeners and salon sharpeners being hard to access for people at home, Moleta Shears was born.
